Independent Consultant Senior Project Manager-GMI Futures Operations candidates with a four year degree and seven years experience as seasoned technical Project Manager involving heavy internal and external client relationship management, with documented successes which will include required experience in business process design, workflow analysis and documentation, project tracking and reporting with Strong knowledge of Visio or similar charting tool, PowerPoint, MS Office, MS Project required as well as Senior knowledge of the financial industry required, middle and back office Fixed Income operations, ideally with knowledge of Futures, Derivatives, Equities, and FX products and platforms. Additionally qualified candidates will have Senior level understanding of technology (both hardware and software), the benefits and pitfalls with technology project concepts (e.g. UAT testing, Prototyping) and five years+ experience of interfacing directly with technology development staff. This will be for a nine months independent contract in the Downtown New York City, NY area. An option to hire may be offered at the end of the contract. The selected Independent Consultant Senior Project Manager-GMI Futures Operations will join the world-wide business reengineering team who is responsible for driving strategic, industry, technology, and consolidation initiatives for global investment banking operations. There are initiatives to improve productivity, quality and reduce costs. The reengineering team is the business liaison to the IT group and provides business analysis, project planning and oversight, testing and implementation. Sungard’s GMI product processor, which covers all the exchange traded derivatives, will be installed in North America, replacing the existing legacy Futures platform.

Specific responsibilities will include:

-Manage the process of analyzing, defining documenting and implementing major enhancements to the Futures Operations business process and technology systems. Understand and document business requirements and through partnership with Technology and colleagues, deliver an appropriate global solution

–Manage the business analysis process
–Chief liaison between Business and IT teams
–Manage the development/modeling of the existing business process
–Participate in the definition of optimal business processes

-Manage relationships with colleagues (e.g. Operations staff) and Business partners (Technology, Trading/Trade Capture, Sales/Sales Support, Legal organization). Ensure smooth, efficient, cost-effective use and delivery of technology. Actively work to improve service, and make more efficient use of technology.

-Devise feasible solutions for complex business problems using insight and creativity in evaluating alternatives to gain greater efficiencies for the Futures business

-Coordinate and document inter-departmental procedures as needed between the Desk, Middle Office and Operations

-Monitor projects from initiation through delivery and organize interdepartmental or cross-functional team meetings ensuring completion of projects on schedule

-Generate project plans, test scripts, test plan, schedules, process flows and related documents to complete UAT and parallel testing

-Monitor and report on progress of technology related projects in Fixed Income, Equity, FX and Client Service Operations

-Work with stake holders to prioritize deliverables

-Analyze business needs against the best platforms & tools available globally

-Assist in training regional teams on our Global processes and systems, as part of project implementations

-Define, budget and deliver IT solutions for Operations

Qualified Independent Consultant Senior Project Manager-GMI Futures Operations
candidates will have:

-A four year degree is absolutely required with an advanced degree preferred.

-7+ years experience as seasoned technical Project Manager involving heavy internal and external client relationship management, with documented successes

-Ability to build consensus amongst various business stakeholders and technology. The ability to work within a geographically disperse team environment and positively affect the team dynamics

-Well developed communication skills, both oral and written. The role will be responsible for ensuring clear and concise business requirements documents and the resulting project management as the new initiatives are developed by the IT group and implemented in the various business areas.

-As the role deals with a broad cross section of business good interpersonal skills such as influencing, conflict resolution, and delegation are key requirements

-Good understanding of technology (both hardware and software), the benefits and pitfalls with technology project concepts (e.g. UAT testing, Prototyping) and experience of interfacing directly with technology development staff (at least 5 years)

-Ability to assess the validity of a technological solution, although you do not have to have a prior role as a hands on technologist.

-Experience of IT budgeting/accounting would be a significant advantage

-Prior experience in business process design, workflow analysis and
documentation, project tracking and reporting is required

-Strong knowledge of Visio or similar charting tool, PowerPoint, MS Office, MS Project is required

-Knowledge of financial industry is required, at a minimum middle and back office fixed income operations

-Knowledge of Futures, Derivatives, Equities, and FX products and platforms a plus

-Knowledge of Sungard’s GMI product a huge plus

-Flexibility to handle multiple projects and changing priorities

-Domestic and International travel may be required

Qualified candidates will have near perfect English writing and English speaking skills not requiring repeating during rapid English conversation.

This long term project in Downtown NYC offers an initial nine months+ independent contract with a competitive starting rate in the $750.00/day to $800.00/day range, depending on experience with no interviewing or travel expenses available. Your asking compensation will be submitted after your approval. (An option to hire may be offered at the end of the contract)
